Hi, my name is Caley Tibbittz.

I make SwordCat Knights, the BEST superhero comic on the web -- it's a bit like an Irish Wonder Woman with a British accent leading faerie vampire X-Men as written for Buffy, Angel, Gargoyles, Torchwood, and Warren Ellis fans like me, while remaining boldly original-ish. Over the course of its development, it has gone from a light punchy superhero story to a more serious (though often funny) dramatic adventure and slow-burning LGBT romance, with themes of life, death, hope, self-worth, distance, and simple warm humanity in the face of a cold universe.

Also: boob jokes galore. Boobs are funny. I have it on good authority that they're just sacks of yellow fat. #feminism

I have always loved drawing and telling stories, and am realizing my dream of writing, drawing, and generally producing SwordCat Knights, a comic about a suicidal immortal super-heroine who finds reasons to live -- and a way to die.

I work very hard to keep the writing, art, and production value as high as if my readers were buying SwordCat Knights off the comic store shelf -- but between caring for my wife (who suffers from severe cerebral palsy) and my taxing and time-consuming call center day job, it is very difficult for me to consistently produce timely updates.

With your help, I can quit my $10/hr day job and produce new SwordCat Knights content full-time, faster and more often. If you can't help, don't worry -- the webcomic will keep updating as often as possible and will remain free to read online. But if you can help, I've got some great exclusive rewards for your help in making my life's work my new super-awesome full-time day job -- including getting to read new pages a WHOLE WEEK early on Patreon for my $3 (up and) supporters!

Thanks for reading!

Soup Sock,
-Caley

Thanks! I especially love the people who like the story; I certainly try hard-ish with the pics, but the story's my favorite part. It's why the art even arts in the first place.

Same here. I put story first above anything. The only reason I spend so much time on the art is to make it eye catching enough for people to start reading my comic.

But your art is perfection. I think you should be working for Marvel or something.

I'd like to work for Marvel, but really only if I could draw Dragon Man. Or Spider-man.

After all, your artwork is a masterpiece

Thank you, really.

And if you look at how her cape is flowing, you'll notice her other arm is also missing. The cover depicts a fall she takes after losing her limbs in issue #1 -- but does she survive in a book called ETERNAL Knights? Who knows, my friend... who even knows.

Thanks! My colorist originally did the moon and sky all realistic, and I had to say "No, I don't think you understand, they have to be RIDICULOUSLY YELLOW and UNREALISTICALLY PURPLE here."

She did a FANTASTIC job. Every time she sends me a new page, she reminds me why I'm not coloring this myself.

Thank you!

It was a challenge to come up with the right shot; this was originally in the script, but I changed it so she falls/dies off camera.

While thumbnailing, I came back to the idea of her smiling at the prospect of death; when I hit upon the idea of combining an inversion of a fairly standard "hero pose", I knew I had a winner.

Plus, ooh, complimnetary colors!

g'day mate i'm new to webcomics but have been reading comics for years (Namely Punisher max)I was looking for something in a similar vein online with great artistry and graphic violence when I came across eternal knights. I must say that I am in love with your comic. It is exactly the fix I needed. Cant wait to read more!

Knowing how widely well-regarded Punisher Max is, this is quite a compliment, thank you.

I work very hard to give my readers the production values of a print comic, and I'm happy when I'm hearing it's paying off.

I hope you enjoy the new issue starting in January.

I want to know how do you actually make it look so professional. I can draw well and all, but does it take a certain program on your computer? I'm new to doing webcomics. I'm a reader as of now, but I'm going to get a computer and start doing my own webcomic. I just wanted to know what to do cause your stuff looks epic. lol.
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 8th Jul 2014, 9:37 AM edit delete reply
Caley Tibbittz Collopy
First, thank you. Second, I use Photoshop (and Illustrator for lettering). The "professional" and "epic" look, well, that's me trying me best to meet the standards of popular artists like John Cassaday. Line for line, EK is maybe 2% computer generated, and 98% old fashioned ink on paper. I'd say try to keep your anatomy at least 85% on target, and really think about your compositions.

For example, I drew maybe 12 or more thumbnail sketches before settling on this as the cover. Usually it only takes one or two -- but don't settle if you have time not to. And good luck.:)

I hope you don't mind me doing a few pass through and making some lengthy but hopefully entertaining, thoughtful, or off-the-wall comments. Your comic is worth it.

I'll start here. This cover, man. From the very start, you're drawing attention and making us think. It actually took me a couple passes to see the disarming nature of this picture...
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 26th Dec 2015, 2:23 PM edit delete reply
Caley Tibbittz Collopy
Oh, by all means, go nuts. I'll reply to comments on any page forever.

A lot of people don't notice the missing arms at first. It was a hard thing to balance, making it clear v. avoiding gore on a cover. My hope is that this could be displayed in a comic shop as-is.

I don't like gore; bully for me to go ahead and create a latter-day Knight who's depressed and likes to get chopped up in hopes of finally dying. It all seems bloodier at the drawing stage than the writing stage...
