The original to this page is a complete disaster, with the panels arranged somewhat differently (and one extended on scrap paper). Thanks for making me seem even moderately talented, Photoshop!

ack, that's what I thought, but the scene just confused me. But most comics confuse me anyways unless it's really easy to read layout like Bone or Calvin and Hobbes. So that's my bad. Great first issue, you draw anatomy beautifully and layouts, keep it up!

Ha, don't sweat it. As far as visual communication, this page is... fine, I think, but would read better in color (panel 4, specifically).

I was also a little skittish in making the sex stuff too sexual, so it's a little... clean? I mean, I think Nicky hiding at the back of the car works for his reaction, but it makes panels 2 & 3 slightly less clear, so it's a toss-up there.

And, as noted in my author note, the original to this page is a MESS that I rescued in Photoshop, so panels 4-6 are cropped for width.

The worst part though is that panel 3 Erica's kind've a butterface. I may need to fix that before print...

P.S. Thanks so much for the art compliments, which I shall refer to henceforth "artpliments" or "complimarts".

I have a thing for short hair on women, hate drawing the long stuff, hate it, but you? You're ridiculously good at it. Erica's hair hangs so beautifully, it's really something else. Sick scene by the way, great way to establish a character being a bit messed up in the head.

Ha, it must be obvious that I quite enjoy drawing long hair on ladies.

And good read on the scene, that's exactly the point of it. A couple early beta readers got "she's a shit cop" out of it, which was not the point at ALL. In fact, she's like a TV cop -- excellent at her job despite massive personal problems. Ah, fiction...

Wow... That is one HELL of a character intro. Seriously.

(And yeah, there is seriously something wrong with Erica. We get a really good look at that right away.)

I tip my hat to you for having the balls to pull this trigger, sir. You definitely inspire me.

Ha, this one was a bit heady for me at first, back when I was still trying to pretend to myself that I could put out a PG13-ish version of EK. I was scared of scaring people off -- I originally posted it with an apology to feminists! Ah, youth...

I've gotten a couple odd reactions from this page, with someone focusing on Erica's nudity as if it were just visual candy (pardon me for drawing pretty people, jeez), and someone calling her a "shit cop". Both of these miss the point entirely. This page and intro is to show that she is a total emotional mess, while the next affirms that this failing contrasts with her being a vastly talented and smart detective.

If her emotional traumas had happened earlier, she'd be a sociopath; they happened just late enough that, while she's kind and good-hearted, she is very needy and self-destructive. She's the kindest, bravest, sweetest mess you could ever hope to meet.

Okay, I read this page twice and I understood it the second time. Basically, you are introducing the reader to the scene after the scene is already half over, and challenging the reader to recreate the first half of the scene from the dialogue in the second half of the scene. I like the characters and I like the story, but I find myself doing so much work to put the story together in my head that I feel like an archaeologist.
